It's the most wonderful time of the year when the sparkling after dark trail returns to light up the world-famous Kew Gardens
Now in its seventh year, the 2019 winter trail takes a magical new route and includes a host of all-new installations too. Framed by glittering spiral trees, dynamic laser projections will illuminate the iconic Temperate House. A dazzling arch leads to a cascade of glowing silvery shards at the Treetop Walkway. Elsewhere, walk amongst immersive Vines as they surprise with colour changing ribbons of light, while beneath the branches of a sprawling tree the mysterious fairy-fire known as Will-o'the Wisp softly glows.
Familiar favourites will also return: the Holly Bushes will sing; the Tunnel of Light will twinkle with thousands of pea-lights and the flickering Fire Garden takes its place amidst the festive experience. Walk under larger-than-life arches of light into a world festooned with seasonal cheer as you wander beneath unique tree canopies drenched in Christmas colour.
Christmas at Kew wouldn't be complete without the Palm House Pond finale as jumping jets of light dance across the water to much-loved Christmas classics.
Have a holly, jolly Christmas and complete a walk under the stars with spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate. Gather around the fire-pit with family and friends to toast marshmallows and end the evening browsing Kew's gift shops. Why not pick up some treats for the journey home?
For the young and young at heart there's a Victorian carousel*, helter skelter* and other family rides*.

Preview Screening with Shalom Chorale Gospel Choir & Special Guests Wednesday 8th May – Union Chapel, London
AMAZING GRACE, the never-before-seen concert film that captures the intimate recording of Aretha Franklin’s iconic album, will be showing at the Union Chapel in London for an exclusive preview screening including a live performance from Shalom Chorale (BBC Gospel Choir of the Year 2018) and very special guests.
In 1972, Aretha Franklin, the undisputed Queen of Soul, travelled to Los Angeles to record an album of gospel music before an enthusiastic live audience. The result, ‘Amazing Grace’, went on to become the top-selling gospel record of all time, the biggest album of Aretha Franklin’s career, and one of her most beloved works. But few people realised that the inspirational sessions had not only been recorded, they had been filmed by Oscar winning filmmaker Sydney Pollack. However, due to technical problems, the film has never been seen. Until now.
‘One of the great music films’ – The New York Times ‘Aretha Franklin’s performance is electrifying’ – Los Angeles Times ‘Pure, soaring joy’ – James King, BBC Radio 2 ‘A transcendent, spine-tingling, uplifting, utterly joyous experience’ – NPR
AMAZING GRACE will screen at the Union Chapel on May 8 with live performances and special guests. The film will be released in UK cinemas on May 10.
